Guinness Chocolate Cake From Bourbon Steak

Guinness Chocolate Cake Recipe

250 mL Guinness beer (stout)

205 g unsalted butter

100 g cocoa powder

400 g sugar

140 mL sour cream

2 each whole eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Pinch of espresso powder

250 g all purpose flour

2 ½ teaspoons baking soda

 

Baking Procedures

Preheat oven to 350 F

In a large sauce pan melt butter and Guinness together

In a medium bowl combine cocoa powder, sugar and espresso powder

Whisk cocoa powder mixture into butter and Guinness off heat

Combine sour cream, whole eggs, and vanilla extract in a large bowl

Add to Guinness mixture

Whisk in baking soda to final mixture

Will take 1 hour to bake for full size cake or 28 minutes for cupcakes

Let cake or cupcakes rest overnight

Best if served with Bailey’s Ice Cream or a simple Bailey’s buttercream frosting
